North Island Cups – Draft Points System 2023

We are simplifying the points system.

A rider can compete in as many events as they wish, but points will only be allocated to one Cup, ie either endurance Cup or Sprint Cup.

All individual races require riding in the relevant qualifying event.

There are bonus points available to respect greater age.

Age    Bonus Points
30 – 34 years0
35 – 39 years5
40 – 44 years10
45 – 49 Years15
40 – 54 Years20
55 – 59 years25
60 – 64 years30
65 – 69 years35
70 + years40

Points for team events are awarded to each rider in that team.

There will be updates on points totals throughout the carnival.

Endurance Cup

Points are gained from competing in the Endurance Qualifying, Group Allocation, Team Pursuit, Scratch, Tempo, and Points races.  As well as the Age Bonus points.

Endurance Qualifying

There are bonus points for racing in a higher ranked group.

To lessen the disparity with Enduro Quallie, we are this year trialing splitting Enduro Quallie into 2 heats for those wishing to get into group 1 or group 2, and 2 heats for those wishing to ride in groups 3 and 4.

The heats will be determined on the day to allow for late scratchings, and to ensure an even spread of age and numbers across the heats.

Placing in the heat will determine the allocated grade for all subsequent individual endurance events.
